Fifehead Wood is an attractive 20 ha mixed broadleaf woodland in the heart of the Blackmoor Vale approximately 10 miles west of Shaftesbury. Positioned on the edge of the Stour Valley, Fifehead is part secondary and part Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland (ASNW). Mature oak and ash are the main species with a prominent hazel understorey, giving rise to the traditional coppice-with-standards management, still practiced in some parts of the wood.
